MEET THE AUTHOR

Meet Rebecca.

Rebecca Adams, M.Ed., NBCTNational Board Certified Teacher in Literacy28 Years of Literacy Experience

Rebecca's path to teaching was not a traditional one. After five years of substitute teaching, she discovered that the classroom was where she belonged. At age 30, while raising a family and working part time, she began college and built the career she had never imagined for herself.

Her experience spans preschool through adulthood, including 21 years of ESL instruction, curriculum development, mentoring new teachers, and standardized assessment work.

Retirement did not end Rebecca's work with readers—or her passion for teaching reading. Creating Reading Journey allowed her to bring together a lifetime of experience and a long-held dream of writing a book. What began as one book soon sparked a vision for an entire series of heart-centered resources designed to help adults understand each reader, identify the next step, and guide meaningful growth.

“Assessment should do more than produce a score. It should help us understand the reader.”
